Quality teak is the perfect timber for the outdoors, given its high oleoresin content, preventing degredation and biological/fungal attack.

The Laura Ashley Piano Set is lovingly manufactured from high-quality heartwood FSC Teak placed on an anodised aluminium frame. The teak is certified as being from well managed plantations by the independent organisation Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC).

Technical Details

Table and Armchairs

The teak wood comes from FSC accredited plantations. Buying FSC certified garden furniture ensures you are buying from companies that believe in good staff welfare, and meet environmental and sustainability targets set by FSC. Buying FSC certified products will encourage more forest owners to join the FSC programme and manage their resource in an environmentally responsible way.

Stainless steel fittings are used for strength and longevity. The anodised Aluminium frame will not rust, the "Duranium" surface coating resists scratching.

Cushion

Outer covering manufactured in Trevira CS and printed with a Laura Ashley design. A soft to the touch washable fabric (remove inner and wash at 30oC) that is resistant to rot and wear, a splash proof coating is applied which allow small spillages to simply fall from the cushion. The cushions are inherently fire retardant. Cord Ties and back strap allow cushion to be attached to chair. Zip allows inner to be removed for washing. Forest Green cushions are offered as an alternative.

Maintenance

Teak is renowned for being the world's best wood for outdoor furniture because of its high oil content. It will weather to a beautiful silver grey colour and last for many years. During the first 12 months of weathering you may find that the grain lifts slightly, and that small cracks may appear on the end grains. Please rest assured this will not affect the structure of your furniture and that the grain lifting will subside over time. You can remove this effect by rubbing down the wood using some fine sand paper during the initial weathering. Garden Furniture Scotland recommends leaving furniture to weather naturally to an elegant silver grey. If you would like to treat your wood, then there are various teak oils and water based treatments on the market which can be applied. It is important to understand that nearly all these treatments must be reapplied as a continuous routine every 6 months approximately. For a longer term treatment we recommend the use of a marine varnish. Before using these treatments we recommend that you seek detailed advice from the appropriate manufacturer.
